1. What is the Profiles Checkpoint™ and how does it work?

The Profiles Checkpoint™ provides a full-circle overview of an individual's abilities in eight key competency areas (communication, leadership, adaptability, relationships, task management, production, development of others and personal development) by gathering information from various perspectives: self, boss, direct reports and peers. (Anonymity is guaranteed for direct reports and peers.) This multi-source system is considered more fair, accurate and balanced than a single-supervisor evaluation or peer review alone, and the increased reliability of multiple observations tends to stimulate more commitment to personal growth.

Feedback is presented in a practical, easy to read report that compares responses to the survey. The graphic and numeric report provides a visual summary of results, as well as detailed statistics. While the feedback helps describe where participants are, The Checkpoint Development Planner helps illustrate where they can go. This self-initiated improvement plan involves first examining the feedback data, then generating related development goals, and finally determining concrete methods for achieving the goals. Checkpoint provides a clear, specific outline for the process. Participants take charge of personal change.

2. What are the benefits of using Profiles Checkpoint ?

By capturing outcome-oriented performance feedback in a constructive, non-emotional forum, there are several benefits over other analysis tools:

  • Focus on specific areas of individual performance development.
  • Creates a developmental plan focused on identified needs.
  • Provides a non-emotional forum for capturing perceptions about management competencies.
  • Addresses bias that perception is reality with facts and a developmental plan to improve performance in necessary areas.
  • Produces a gap analysis report of perception differences between employee and boss, employee and peers, and employee and subordinates.
  • Comprehensive, timely, developmentally-focused report with guaranteed anonymity.

3. How many people can provide feedback on an individual?

You can have up to 3 bosses and 3 groups of 10 respondents (i.e., 10 direct reports, 10 peers, 10 vendors) for a total of 30 respondents plus 3 bosses.

4. What about confidentiality?

Once the respondents have finished providing feedback, either via the internet or on paper, their responses go directly to the Profiles Checkpoint Service Center for processing, assuring the confidentiality of the results. Only the boss's results typically point to a specific individual. Peer and direct report results are not identified by individual.

5. How long does it take to complete the Profiles Checkpoint?

It typically takes an individual approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the respondent survey whether online or via paper instrument.

6. What do the reports cover?

The Profiles Checkpoint reports include two sections:

Section I - The Feedback Report
Helps chart the course of professional development. The comprehensive Checkpoint report presents results that are easily read and understood. Participants can increase self-awareness, compare perceptions from different workplace sources, measure performance in relation to goals, clarify the expectations of others, and prioritize developmental needs. An excellent coaching tool, the Checkpoint report provides a balanced picture with valuable insights. Since all reports are processed off-site, confidentiality is assured. Both individual and group reports are available.

Section II - The Development Planner
Helps route the course of professional development. Direct, specific and constructive, the development planner's emphasis is on action. It takes Checkpoint beyond numbers to an exploration of development methods. The self-directed planner includes guides for interpreting data, setting goals and identifying strategies to bring about change. Like other Checkpoint components, the development planner is uncomplicated and results-oriented.

7. How long does it take to get a report?

The length of time required for report generation is a function of how quickly surveys are completed by the participant, manager, peers, and direct reports. If all surveys are completed online, reports are available virtually immediately.

8. How much does the Profiles Checkpoint cost?

The price for the Profiles Checkpoint varies depending on the number of respondents. The investment ranges from $200 (product only) to $550 or more (with consulting).
